BAND 3 - 37.5 hours
Would you like to work in a warm and friendly team – then this is the good fortune for you! A super opportunity has arisen for you to join our innovative, supportive, and welcoming therapy team at Leighton Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 3 therapy assistant to work within the Frailty/Neurology therapy team. We would like you to have an interest or knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. An awareness or some experience in the NHS, and particularly in elderly care, would be of benefit.
You will work with an Occupational therapist (OT), Physiotherapy and Assistant Practitioners and be a valued member of the wider MDT and care of the elderly/frailty team. We will offer support, training, and development opportunities.
The role of the Therapy Assistant is to support the qualified Therapists with the implementation of treatment plans and interventions for patients on the wards. The team covers wards that are within general medicine but have an interest in care of the elderly and frailty.
The role will include gathering information from patients or families, following treatment plans, under supervision, providing education and practice in activities of daily living and mobility. It will involve you reporting back to the qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist. The role will require you to assist with moving and handling of patients using appropriate equipment.
Administrative duties will include photocopying and filing, maintaining admission information and completing computer-based statistics. There will be a requirement to write in medical notes.
On commencing the role you will have a full induction. We offer regular supervision, setting individual objectives, promoting self-analysis/reflection and development. All staff irrespective of their post will be given equal opportunity to undertake a full variety of CPD to support and develop them in their role.
Service development and innovation is strongly encouraged alongside participation in audit and research. Flexible working environment and paid annual leave entitlement.
