JOB PURPOSE

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets – passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment – Dana provides the world’s original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.
Dana’s TM4 division, located at Boucherville, is specialized in the design and development of electric motors and inverters, meant to be used within commercial and light vehicles.

PURPOSE:

As a thermal engineer at Dana TM4 Boucherville, you will be an active member of the mechanical analysis team, supporting the mechanical, magnetic, and power electronics design teams. Your role will be focused on, but not limited to, ensuring that the products (electromechanical systems) meet the thermal requirements, while respecting the other multiple constraints on the design. You will be involved in all phases of the product development cycle and in continuous improvement activities. You will also support the engineering test and validation teams.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out finite element thermal analysis of electric motors, inverters, and other power electronic systems.
  • Give design recommendations, perform trade off studies and sensitivity analyses
  • Collaborate with the other teams to develop and optimize products with respect to performance, efficiency, cost, manufacturability, and reliability goals.
  • Support the design teams during the continuous improvement phases.
  • Liaise with external service providers and other Dana electrification tech centers
  • All other related tasks
