Description:
A Thermal/fluids engineer is now required to support the development of innovative thermal management and fuel distribution systems and future project work in Cranfield Aerospace Solutions Ltd. This role will include work on Project Fresson, supporting the existing Air Vehicle Design team working towards completion of the demonstrator aircraft programme delivery and the design of novel green aircraft.
The candidate will need to conduct:
- 1D to 3D thermo-fluids analysis
- Application of thermal analysis techniques, modelling and simulation to characterise and solve thermal challenges
- Physics knowledge of compressible and incompressible flow
- Present the work to key stakeholder
- Report the work during key meetings
The candidate should have a strong background in Engineering, with a solid understanding of the underlying physics behind the thermal and fluids systems
Capable of identifying and clearly communicating the development opportunity space and constraints using an analytical approach.
- Essential: Knowledge of Thermodynamics
- Essential: Knowledge of Fluid flow physics and heat transfer
- Essential: Use of Matlab, Python or any programming language
- Beneficial: Familiar with 1D and 3D flow simulations
- Beneficial: Experience and understanding of testing: ground testing, Iron bird or wind tunnel testing
- Beneficial: Some experience of CFD and FEM
- Beneficial: Experience with Simulink, Simscape or Altair TwinActivate
- Beneficial: Some knowledge of electric aircraft propulsion and hydrogen fuel cell systems
