The primary purpose of the Tissue Viability- Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is to provide advanced nursing care within a defined scope of practice to inpatients of North Canberra Hospital, they will also be a point of liaison for outpatient services including ED and the GRACE team.
The Tissue Viability CNC will provide a high standard of evidence based care using assessment, planning and early intervention and evaluation of patients who are at risk of wound occurrence or recurrence as well as advise on current wound management. They will consult and collaborate with the MDT to inform patient treatment options and will provide relevant and appropriate teaching and practice development opportunities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Provision of clinical leadership by advising and assisting with the assessment, evaluation and planning to prevent and treat tissue damage
• Provide expert recommendations to the multidisciplinary team on appropriate evidence based treatment options
• Act as a clinical role model on the treatment and management of tissue damage.
