POSITION SUMMARY

The Title IX & EEO Coordinator must demonstrate a profound understanding of and experience with successfully supporting individuals with varying backgrounds. This includes persons with disabilities, various gender identities and sexual orientations, as well as individuals from historically underrepresented communities and other groups to ensure CIIS provides an inclusive educational and employment environment focused on strategies for success and equitable outcomes for all. Under the general administrative direction of the CHRO, this position plans, manages, oversees, provides leadership for and facilitates CIIS’ EEO and Title IX programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution highly preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience demonstrating progressive advancement in the area of EEO and Title IX oversight, management, and response, including the ability to conduct complex investigations.

Knowledge Of:

  • Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972; Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Age Discrimination Act of 1975; the Clery Act (as amended by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act); the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA); and the PUMP for Nursing Mother’s Act (PUMP Act) and applicable state laws.
  • MS Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and electronic information management systems.
  • Techniques for effective presentations and communication in both virtual and in-person environments.

  • Using discretion/good judgment to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Providing leadership, guidance and motivation to deputy coordinators and colleagues.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

This position requires attention to detail, good memory, ability to work under deadline pressure, sitting and standing for long periods of time, oral and written communication, keyboarding for significant portions of the workday, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, patience, and tact to perform the essential functions.
LOCATION: Primarily Remote with periodic need to work on campus approximately 4 times a year

  • The Title IX & EEO Coordinator develops, coordinates, and provides initial and ongoing training to faculty, staff, and students on EEO and Title IX initiatives.
  • This includes workshops on preventing harassment and discrimination based on protected class, annual Title IX training, training on Title IX grievance procedures, sex-based harassment and discrimination, sexual and intimate partner violence, pregnancy or related conditions, and gender equity

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Managing Title IX and EEO Programs
  • The Title IX & EEO Coordinator plans, directs, manages, oversees, and provides leadership for the institution’s equal employment opportunity programs and activities, including serving as the institution’s Title IX Coordinator. This includes:
  • Development, coordination, and implementation of the institution’s EEO compliance plan, policies, and administrative procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to departments and Deputy Title IX officers

Compliance Monitoring:

  • Serves as a resource to hiring committees on EEO and other compliance matters. They monitor hiring committee proceedings, personnel actions, and other employment processes to ensure compliance with legal requirements and established policy.

Complaint Handling:
The Title IX & EEO Coordinator receives, analyzes, processes, and responds to inquiries and complaints from faculty, staff, students, and third parties. This includes complaints of all protected class harassment and discrimination claims, including those related to sexual misconduct, sexual and/or gender-based harassment/discrimination, stalking, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and gender identity. This includes being responsible for conducting trauma-informed investigations, creating reports and responding to complaints; implementing supportive measures and providing resolution; implementing appropriate policies, procedures and outreach, training, and prevention programs; and providing highly responsible and complex administrative support related to Title IX compliance and best practices. This position also supports discrimination, harassment and (at times) employee disciplinary matters.
Recruitment Strategies:
The Title IX & EEO Coordinator will support HR and other campus offices in implementing strategies to increase recruitment of qualified job applicants from underrepresented groups.
