GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

WYDOT’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This is a shift work position; employees will be required to work rotating shifts and extended shifts at any time of the day or evening at the discretion of the supervisor.
This position assists in supervising WYDOT’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) by reviewing daily activities associated with the Wyoming Travel Authorization Program, variable speed limit operations, road closures, and other complex or unique operations of the TMC. Ensures all operators meet or exceed standards through evaluations and training.

Oversee training of all staff in the TMC.
- Attend meetings and provide input for planning or strategic goals for the agency in specific areas of focus.
- Perform quality control functions and present ideas for quality improvement.
- Implement new and evolving technologies to enhance public information regarding the state’s transportation system.
- Develop policies, guidelines, and procedures for real-time public information, setting variable speed limits, and establishing communication protocols.
- Represents the GIS/ITS/TMC Program in public events and speaking engagements.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Wyoming’s transportation system.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under stressful situations; ability to adjust readily to changing priorities.
- Ability to learn new computer programs while having experience with common computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interpret, and communicate technical information.
- Ability to solve problems, prioritize duties, and complete required tasks effectively.
- Skills in written and oral communication, including leadership, training, conflict resolution, consensus building, and team building; and preparation of clear and concise records, reports, correspondence, training, and other written materials.
- Ability to coordinate, organize, oversee, train, assign, and manage people and equipment efficiently to prioritize and accomplish work, e.g., records management, inventory control, personal advancement, and training.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques to resolve operational and technical issues.
- Ability to effectively manage own time and work independently and/or with limited supervision for extended periods, and to make reasoned decisions when confronted with unusual circumstances.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree (typically in Business)
EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a TMC Senior Specialist.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a TMC Senior Specialist
