Description:
Job Title: Tobacco Cessation Senior Specialist - Talk Tobacco (BC)
Location: Anywhere in British Columbia
Work Model: Hybrid Work Model
Salary Band: 5 ($56,000 - $84,000 CAD)
One Year Contract, Full-Time Position
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Related post-secondary education in the field of health promotion, health sciences, community development or social work and/or a combination of two to three years education and experience in similar positions.
- Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, British Columbia’s First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and urban Indigenous histories and cultures, and health/socio-economic issues/needs.
- Strong counseling skills and knowledge of behaviour change theory with regards to commercial tobacco.
- Proven project coordination, collaboration, and organizational skills, with experience supporting projects through all facets of the project life cycle.
- Expertise in effectively working with Indigenous partners and stakeholders and knowledge of Indigenous governments and organizations.
- Experience working in and/or familiarity with cancer prevention, chronic disease prevention or related health areas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion approaches and strategies related to commercial tobacco control is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse and complex client groups, including clients living with mental health conditions, substance dependency, trauma and/or chronic disease.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
- Able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong initiative and capacity to work independently, balanced with teamwork
- High level of computer skills, experience working with databases and keyboarding skills.
- Proficient in MSOffice (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel within British Columbia.
- A Criminal Record Check is required
