Job Description:
As a(n) Trade Compliance Specialist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.
You will be in a key role in providing professional support, coordination and tactical execution of various projects and related activities in support of 3M’s strategic plan and key Trade Compliance-related initiatives for 3M in Colombia and Peru. In this position you will be able to ensure compliance with foreign trade compliance regulations and support 3M Global Trade Compliance strategies. This position has functional responsibilities that include export controls, import customs regulations, certificates of origin and free trade optimization, working with and supporting all business units in Colombia and Peru.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in relation to import and export processes, including maintaining standards, procedures and work instructions related to the process.
  • Provides support for internal and external audits relating to import processes, including help and support in the analysis of Customs applications and subpoenas.
  • Support in annual reviews of processes and controls to determine the general level of compliance (Risk assessment OEA), including determining actions to mitigate and/or reduce risks.
  • Coordinate other import issues such as customs clearance, broker SOPs, document review and Incoterms®, and consultations with customs and other partner government agencies.
  • Apply functional expertise and project leadership to key initiatives involving exports and compliance with export control or related regulations.

To prepare for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who have the following qualifications:

  • Degree in International Business, Foreign Trade, international relations or similar.
  • Experience with customs services.
  • Fluent in English / Spanish highly desired
  • Knowledge of the AEO program or Risk Assessment Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience with similar functions performed.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Power BI, Power APP, Power Automate) is desirable

  • Excellent communication, presentation and teamwork skills, with the ability to motivate
