EDUCATION

4-year college degree preferred

KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong understanding of Singapore and U.S. Import/Export Control Laws
  • Computer literate
  • Familiar with ERP systems
  • Proficient with MS Office or similar
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Proficient understanding of Singapore and U.S. Customs regulations
  • Experience in parts brokerage industry preferred
  • Familiar with International Trade laws within Asia and the EU along with other countries preferred
  • Proficient in HTS Classification and ECCN Classification

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Velocity Electronics is seeking an amazing Trade Compliance Analyst who is responsible for ensuring that Velocity complies with all applicable import and export regulations, including the United States, the Netherlands and Singapore, by working with a team of Trade professionals in developing, implementing, and maintaining corporate trade compliance policies and procedures. The Trade Compliance Analyst is also responsible for ensuring compliance for import and export transactions and providing direct daily support to all business units regarding the compliant movement of items by and for Velocity to deliver exceptional experiences and outcomes.
Velocity Electronics is a leading certified stocking distributor and outsource procurement services provider specializing in the supply and material management of board level electronic components and associated products with global headquarters in Austin, TX.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide daily support to all business units regarding the international movement of items and the maintenance of electronic business partner records
  • Review and approve export request by the Inspection Distribution Centers via Velocity’s robust ERP System to ensure the transaction meets all export requirements
  • Assist in developing new or improved processes to improve and streamline Velocity’s overall global trade compliance program
  • Provide proactive advice and guidance through process documentation and training within key departments and personnel with regards to compliance, efficiency and cost-effective practices for customs clearance and international shipping
  • Firm understanding of the Singapore Import/Export regulations along with the United States Export Administration Regulation (EAR) and familiarity with the international Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and the ability to obtain Singapore Export Permits and retransfer/reexport authorization licenses from the United States and maintain approved authorization and recordkeeping requirements from these agencies to include knowledge of exceptions and exemptions usage under each regulation
  • Proficient in determining harmonized tariff schedule codes and commodity classifications for items being exported and/or imported by Velocity
  • Knowledge of auditing practices to include conducting periodic reviews of Velocity’s import and export transactions for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work with approved freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure exemplary compliance performance and placement of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Familiarity with management of embargos and sanction countries and parties to ensure Velocity is compliant with such matters
  • Manage projects requiring changes to Velocity’s internal ERP system, including documentation of business requirements and user acceptance testing
  • Ability to mentor team members to ensure Velocity’s Trade Team is well-rounded in all aspects of the duties of the trade department
  • Interact with local government officials, as necessary
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned
