Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Working as a Fitter/Tradesperson, you will be kept busy in our workshop with the daily servicing, maintenance and repairs of our AK passenger fleet. The AK fleet operates on one of the world’s top ten rail journeys the ‘TranzAlpine express’.
The primary focus of this role is to conduct the various production tasks, maintenance checks and repairs as set out in the production and maintenance plans to the standards required in the Mechanical Codes and Instructions, ensuring the assets reliability, safety and availability.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly enthusiastic and enjoy a role that includes following procedures, fault finding, diagnosing, problem solving and fixing:

  • Trade Qualified (NZQA or Equivalent) Level 4 or 5 as, electrical, diesel, fabrication, coach builder, mechanical, pneumatic, automotive mechanic or similar (Non – Trade Qualifications will also be reviewed)
  • Previous exposure to a heavy trade or automobile industry, machine upgrades, or experience working with locomotives, ships or similar is ideal but not essential
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret hydraulic & pneumatic control diagrams, electrical schematics and enjoy fault finding and process improvement
  • Knowledge of relevant Engineering specifications and sound engineering practices
  • High level of physical fitness, team spirit and be Health and Safety focuse
