JOB SUMMARY:

Trading Analyst will be part of the LNG trading team (both short term trading and mid-term origination) of Kansai Electric Power FTS Pte. Ltd. (KEFTS) in Singapore. KEFTS is 100% owned subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power Co.,Inc (KEPCO), the second largest power producer and distributor in Japan and is set up to trade LNG for balancing and optimizing KEPCO’s LNG portfolio as well as trading for its own book for supplementing KEPCO’s legacy LNG position in creative and entrepreneurial way.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Trading Analyst supports commercial activities of short term trading and mid-term origination teams to assist their decision making process by presenting economic analysis for the proposed trades, innovatively identifying incremental value embedded in the deals. Trading Analyst is expected to lead standardization of analytical models whereby both trading and risk control teams can be benefitted by its transparency, reliability and balanced view. Active coordination with COO, LNG Trading team and Risk Control Team will be critical part of its job.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferably in business, finance, mathematics or engineering.
• Native or equivalent proficiency of English in both writing and speaking.
• At least 3 years of experience in LNG trading analytics or equivalent.
• Advanced Excel skill and preferably knowledge of Python for data processing and analysis.
• Understanding of the LNG value chain from production to shipping and delivery and drivers affecting value of LNG trade.
• Understanding of commodity market and knowledge of various LNG related price index including TTF, Henry Hub, JKM and Brent.
• Ability to work collaboratively with stake holders and communicate effectively.
• May require to travel on occasional basis.

• Provide economic analysis to evaluate trade opportunities proposed by LNG trading team with fair reflection of market in consistent format. Trading Analyst will also play a role of initiating optimization ideas by daily assessment of price movements vs portfolio.
• Develop method to monitor and identify various trade opportunities by improving existing loading, shipping and delivery dataset.
• Ensure traders to use accurate assumption of the exposures for hedging physical positions.
• Maintain price information which can be basis of Risk Control Team’s activities. Develop medium term forward price curve to assist originators in evaluating and benchmarking market opportunities.
• Verify traders’ entry into ETRM, monitor daily risk management report and ensure P&L and exposures are accurately reflected.
• Provide data to support the development of trading strategies and strategic decision-making.
