The West Waikato Network Outcomes Contract (NOC), based in Hamilton, is the network steward for the state highway network, controlling access onto and maintaining critical infrastructure that connects and enhances communities from Rangiriri to Te Kuiti and beyond.
The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Traffic Management Co-ordinator to join the West Waikato NOC based in Hamilton. Your talents in this role will provide the State Highway Network Controls team with an environment that puts safety and quality first. On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Review and approve traffic management plans. This covers risk planning, implementation, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic management measures while road work is being completed.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring requests are dealt with promptly and technical questions, requirements or challenges are resolved or escalated appropriately.
  • Ensure TMPs are accurate, compliant, and fit with legislation and industry standards & guidelines.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in traffic management co-ordination. Liaison with contractors, consultants and local authorities will be a key part of this role so excellent communication and relationship skills are required
  • Experience in risk assessment of traffic management plans
  • Understand the use of Submitica/RAMM CAR and willingness to become proficient in other packages as necessary
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and other software programs
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret engineering and professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations including COPTTM and the Utilities National Code of Practice
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, contractors, and Waka Kotahi personnel
  • Ability to generate alternative traffic management plan options
  • TTM Planner qualified.
  • STMS L2/L3 or ABC Non-Practicing
  • Methodical and logical thinker with excellent problem solving skills
