JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Commercial Transport Trailer Apprentice or Graduate (All levels will be considered)
  • CVI License an asset
  • Knowledge of tires, mounting & dismounting, Fleet yard checks, tire rotation
  • 1st aid certification is an asset
  • Class 1 license is an asset
  • Experience in roll up doors, welding, fabrication and aluminum spool gun is an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and other systems and related components
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
  • Physical ability for lifting, bending, reaching
  • Knowledge of workshop safety principles and behaviors
  • High attention to detail and collaborative team player
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work in fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50kg heavy equipment and parts regularly
  • Must be willing in all weather conditions
  • Must be comfortable with working in awkward positions

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection, diagnosis and repair of trailers through preventative and scheduled maintenance, trailer frames electrical systems; landing gear assemblies and trailer bodies; suspensions systems; tires, wheels; hubs and axles; air and auxiliary systems; braking systems; heating and refrigeration systems; roof repairs; hitching/coupling systems; as well as ventilation devices.
  • Thoroughly inspecting trailer mechanisms, ensuring that the trailer is safe and reliable for operations
  • Preventative maintenance on trailer and mechanical parts
  • Testing and adjusting repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications
  • Troubleshooting and able to look at mechanical, electrical systems, identify problems, and think about and perform possible solutions
  • Familiar with electronics and be able to read blueprints, or use electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs.
  • Effectively communicate with Supervisor on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe facility, following company safety policies and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines
  • Complete detailed inspection reports to record problems and work performed
  • Ability to perform repairs in different environmental settings, such as in repair shop or on a job site.
  • Ensure maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner
  • Reading and interpreting owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications
  • Keeping up-to-date on technology and upgrading skills as required
