ABOUT YOU:
We are looking for someone who has the ability to analyse complex data, with a strong eye for detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style in order to build relationships at all levels.
- Previous knowledge or experience of compliance/money laundering/regulatory issues would be an advantage
- Ability to prioritise workload and work within tight deadlines.
- Team player with a flexible approach.
This is a fast paced, high volume role working to KPI’s and SLA’s and within this role you will be the first business support team that is in contact with the clients, so you must display the passion to work and strive to achieve Gowling WLG high quality client experience standards.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We have a great opportunity for a Trainee Conflicts Analyst to join our General Counsel team in our Birmingham office on a 12 month fixed term contract.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Carrying out conflict/confidentiality searches; identifying where issues of conflict may arise and/or where there may be concerns regarding material confidential information by examining and analysing often complex information and providing detailed feedback to fee earners and partners in compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct.
- Observing non-disclosure agreements in respect of client confidentiality and combination conflict handling
- Applying protocols to cross jurisdictional conflicts
- Using and navigating systems outside the UK Where required, handling firmly yet sensitively the reluctance from fee earners and partners to accept one’s decision regarding a conflict of interest.
- In more complex cases, working with senior colleagues to investigate and resolve.
- Dealing with PA and fee earner enquiries regarding client and matter acceptance.
- Support new team members on conflicts
