Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Trainee Healthcare Science Practitioner to join our busy team within the Cardio-Respiratory department at Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust.
The department offers a range of diagnostic services including ECG, ambulatory ECG monitoring and analysis, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, exercise tolerance testing, pacemaker follow up, echocardiography including bubble studies and specialist valve clinics.
As part of this dynamic team, you will be supported to develop the knowledge and skills required to become a competent Healthcare Science Practitioner. After a period of preceptorship and completion of work-based competencies, you will then progress into a band 5 Cardiac Healthcare Science Practitioner post.
The successful candidate will be from a science background with the relevant qualifications required for the BSc Healthcare Science Practitioner program. In addition, experience of working with people, ideally within a healthcare setting would be desirable. Experience within or a solid awareness of Cardiac Physiology will be of great advantage to applicants.
The post holder will initially undertake most aspects of training at Leighton Hospital, however, there will also be an expectation to rotate across to Northwich Victoria Infirmary when required.
The service will run 08:00 - 18:00 Mon-Sat. Hours may include weekend and evenings.
We are looking for highly motivated, innovative, and experienced Healthcare Science Practitioner to join our team. Once qualified, you will act as an autonomous practitioner providing diagnostic services for the wider community, taking responsibility for the day to running of the service. Strong interdisciplinary working relationships are encouraged with the aim of providing access to the right professional, in the right place, at the right time for all in the local population.
As part of the departmental succession plan, there will be further opportunities to develop more advanced clinical skills and knowledge within the area of echocardiography. Successful candidates will be supported through a ‘grow our own’ training programme which will require a work-based training portfolio and completion of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) level 2 accreditation process. Upon completion, you will then be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography.
Thank you for your interest in this post.

The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.
We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children’s health.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients.
