Description:

Location: Oxford Leisure
Contract Type: Full Time, Part Time and Casual
Working Hours/Pattern : Various hours available
Salary: Up to £12.49 per hour + Excellent Benefits
Always wanted to be a lifeguard but not had the resources to get your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
You should read on as we are recruiting for unqualified Lifeguards as we have Full time, Part time and Casual roles available where you can be supported in achieving your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) worth £300 (subject to signing training agreement), to be able to work as a Lifeguard across Oxford facilities.
Here at More Community leisure Trust our goal is to get more people, more active, more often. We provide affordable access to a wide range of sports and leisure facilities to support healthier and happier people across all segments of the local community. To deliver these services takes an enthusiastic and customer focused team.
As well as being an everyday hero, as a Lifeguard you’ll be an important part of life here at the centre as you ensure that everyone can use the pool in safety and that they have access to everything they need to enjoy their visit. This will involve you providing customer care to people of all ages, supervising activities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the pool area, and ensuring the safe handling and set up of pool equipment. And of course, when needed – you’ll help to save lives.
Without you there can’t be any pool activity. But you won’t be working alone. Our leisure centre has a close knit and supportive team, all working towards providing an inclusive leisure hub for the entire community.
We share your passion for leisure, and we will offer a safe, fun, and professional working environment with excellent development opportunities. NPLQ Lifeguards at Serco Leisure have followed exciting career paths going on to be swimming teachers, duty managers or even contract managers, to name a few options! We will support you in your career path and you will also receive free gym membership for you and a family member across our fantastic leisure centres!
About you
No previous Lifeguarding experience required, this role is open to anybody who has the desire to be a lifeguard and can meet the minimum requirements in a swim test.
To pass the swim test you must be able to perform the following:
Jump/dive into deep water
Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds (this is usually 2 lengths of the pool)
Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water (this is usually 8 lengths of the pool)
Tread water for 30 seconds
Surface dive to the floor of the pool (this is usually no deeper than 2.0m)
Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
The next NPLQ course will likely take place at one of the local facilities in weekends throughout April, exact dates to be confirmed, so please make sure you can commit to these dates before applying.
