QUALIFICATIONS

  • CERT IV in Rail Operations or ability to attain
  • Current Driving License
  • Qualified in safeworking rules and procedures or ability to attain
  • Experience in train control management (Desirable)
  • Experience in Train Control Management (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of the NSW National Rail Safety Law 2012 and System Safety Plans
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate work activities in a dynamic operational environment

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

The Network Control Officer (NCO) is pivotal to the overall operation of the UGL Regional Linx CRN and will manage the day to day movements of Rail Traffic and facilitate network access for maintenance activities across the network on a 24 hour/7 days a week basis.
This role will be located at the Orange Network Control Centre but may be required to operate from the Network Control Backup facility located in Bathurst NSW should the Orange facility become unavailable for any reason.
Network Control Officers are the first point of contact for all Rail Crews and others requiring access to the UGL Regional Linx CRN.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate Network Control equipment to authorise movements and accurately prepare and issue train authorities for train and track work requirements
  • Remain appraised of the location and progress of trains and track work, accurately recording the particulars in the Train Control Systems as required
  • Respond to emergencies and other irregularities, providing timely and accurate reports in the prescribed train control reports.
  • Comply with all safe working requirements, codes of practice, procedures and processes
  • Plan anticipated running of all trains and track work, to ensure conflict is avoided
  • Issue instructions to rail crews and staff at line locations, ensuring all events are correctly performed and reported in a timely manner in the Train Control Systems as required
  • Ensure compliance with train and other notices concerning alterations and additions to signaling, safe working equipment and rolling stock
  • Process Ad-Hoc Train Paths from Operators received within the span of your shift.
  • Assist track and other staff in reaching work destinations promptly for the purpose of track work and assist with testing of network control equipment
  • Provide a comprehensive briefing to relieving Network Controllers at the end of each shift to provide a full understanding of train position and any verbal instructions to trains
  • Log all matters which may affect the relief and ensure the relief is familiar with those matters at the end of a shift
