Description:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will have prior knowledge and experience of the Construction, Infrastructure Projects & Energy and Corporate finance practice and working within a law firm. This is a fast-paced role and we are looking for a candidate who can join the team and hit the ground running.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
You will be expected to be able to:
- Provide professional, efficient and friendly service to clients and fellow colleagues
- Communicate clearly and appropriately, both orally and verbally (in English) with other parties whilst maintaining effective working relationships
- Participate in team meetings
- Assist business development including winning new work where applicable
ACADEMIC SKILLS
- You will have a good academic record having preferably obtained a 2.1 or equivalent degree or higher at University and passed all the necessary law exams.
- Whilst with the firm you will be expected to attend required internal courses and training and attendance at any relevant Professional Skills Courses
- Keep up to date with law changes and practice
ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS
- You will be expected to assist the team with a variety of tasks, often these can be to tight deadlines.
You must, therefore, be able to prioritise workloads and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines.
- You must maintain excellent file administration
- Complete accurate time recording
- Maintain your personal training record
- Conduct regular check-ins and objective setting in line with the firm’s internal process
- Deal with billing, paying costs and closing files
- Follow administrative systems and procedures accurately and competently
MANAGEMENT SKILLS
You will have the ability to view situations from a commercial or business perspective.
This requires you to look at a situation from different angles and good commercial awareness is
important. You must, therefore, be capable of delegating tasks, and working on your own initiative enabling you to:
- Gain understanding client expectations and requirements
- Assess legal problems
- Advise clients and give appropriate legal advice
