Summary
Under the general supervision of the Training Program Administrator, the incumbent is responsible to participate in and assist in maintaining a department-wide training program specific to each group of employees, with an emphasis on on-site, hands-on training provided to new and existing employees.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Responsible for providing all aspects of training and verify proficiency.
  • Record and maintain training documentation of all CMARC staff (mainly Animal Attendant and Animal Health Technician).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with other trainers regarding instructional design.
  • Selects appropriate training methods per situation (virtual, simulated, mentoring, on the job training, professional development classes, etc.)
  • Promote available training opportunities to employees and provide necessary information.
  • Conduct department-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.
  • Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials.
  • Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.
  • Maintain updated curriculum database and training records.
  • Host train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts.
  • Assist with the development of new husbandry and care SOPs.
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
