Catholic Charities is one of the largest, oldest, and most comprehensive nonprofit human services organizations in Northern California, annually reaching more than 60,000 vulnerable individuals of all faiths in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin Counties. Education & Experience::

  • Minimum 2-4 years People and Culture (HR Generalist) experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant industry experience.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:: :

  • A deep and thorough understanding of the business or organization, since an employee trainer aims to maximize the organization’s resources and build an efficient and productive workforce
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to understand problems, convey ideas, and conduct training, and all of these are carried out through words
  • Creative and innovative thinking, which enables the employee trainer to keep things fresh to hold trainees’ attention, and also improvise on their teaching style
  • Excellent presentation skills to present and handle training programs effectively
  • Well-developed administrative skills, as an employee trainer is required to manage training programs efficiently, including sessions and budgets
  • Knowledge of employee and labor relations
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Skill in tracking data on various aspects of the organization and running reports for analysis and modification of workplace policies, practices, etc.
  • Knowledge of Equity (to include diversity and inclusion) principles and their relevance in all workplace functions and relationships
  • Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with internal and external constituents
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to administer surveys, analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations accordingly
  • Ability to pay attention to detail

Responsibilities:

Training and Professional Development:

  • Design and conduct effective training on specific Human Resources topics (e.g. performance evaluations, targeted recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, employment and labor laws both federal and state, FMLA/CFRA, worker’s compensation, etc.)
  • Liaising with managers to determine training needs and schedule training sessions
  • Design and conduct trainings as needed to meet compliance for St. Vincent’s School for Boys
  • Conduct seminars, workshops, individual training sessions etc.
  • Prepare educational material such as module summaries, videos etc.
  • Support and mentor new employees
  • Conduct evaluations to identify areas of improvement
  • Monitor employee performance and response to training
  • Keep attendance and other records
  • Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate record of trainee progress and achievements
  • Communicating the correct information and handling any questions from trainees
  • Laying good examples by demonstrating the skills that are being taught
  • Critically examining the trainees’ understanding and progress and making necessary adjustments to the program
  • Scheduling training sessions to minimize disruption to normal working.
  • Provide ongoing advisory services to managers and staff regarding various topics to assist the growth and development of all staff and leadership
  • Recommend training and professional development to supervisors/managers to assist them in becoming successful leaders

Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools:

  • Phenomenal communication, presentation and public speaking skills

  • Maintain tracking of all training and professional development completed by all CCSF employees
  • Make appropriate professional development recommendations to supervisors/managers
  • Provide consultation to supervisors/managers on leadership best practices

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will lead certain department projects to successful completion
  • Upon request, will represent the People & Culture department in various meetings
  • Initiative to create a self-development plan
