Here’s a preview of what you will be doing

This site’s primary function is to safely transload crude from tanks to rail cars.

  • Prepare the rail tank cars for loading; including a thorough inspection
  • Load unit trains and manifest rail cars with crude produced in Bruderheim, AB using fixed and mobile loading racks by removing tank domes, maneuvering the loading arms and operating the control panel
  • Assist Crude haulers with unloading their trucks and safely transloading their load into Savage’s holding tank system, by hooking up hoses, checking for leaks and operating the control panel
  • Ensure receiving and shipping paperwork is neat, accurate and verified
  • General Maintenance ("bolt on –bolt off") as well as cleaning, housekeeping and snow removal
  • Look to expand the role into rail switching and/or locomotive operation
  • Handle problems as they arise and initiate steps to resolution
  • Commit to Safe work practices through situational awareness, following standard operating procedures, receiving constructive criticism and watching out for the health and wellness of others
  • Partner with the maintenance team to ensure the facility operates smoothly

Responsibilities:

THIS IS WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the transloading of liquid commodities including hazardous materials
  • Be able and willing to learn railroad operations and safety
  • Be Mechanically inclined
  • Must be able to attend and pass all test associated with job related coursework.
  • Be available to reliably fulfill a 12 hour rotating shift schedule
  • Day Shift 6am-6pm
  • Night Shift 6pm-6am
  • Have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Some experience in the oil field, rail environment, or other industrial environment would be a strong asset

HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Can you work outdoors in all weather conditions?
  • Do you feel comfortable working at heights?
  • Are you able to walk extensively every day, sometimes on uneven terrain?
  • Can you physically life a minimum of 50 lbs.?
  • Are you able to work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time?
