WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a professional and experienced Transport Controller to join our growing Transport team. As a Transport Controller you will be responsible for the smooth running of the transport office at Enfield, overseeing all planned routes and ensuring the fleet is run in an efficient and safe manner. They will Provide excellent communication between the team of drivers, arrange and plan for essential fleet maintenance reducing downtime and always ensure safe operations in partnership with our fleet providers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE TO SUCCEED AS A TRANSPORT CONTROLLER WILL INCLUDE:

  • Ideally, a good amount of experience supervising a busy transport operation (preferably multi temperature food transport).
  • High quality leadership skills are considered essential to motivate and lead driving team working.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral and a flexible approach to both duties and hours of work is required.
  • Must have a good solid geographic knowledge of the UK, especially London and the Southeast.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (including Outlook, Excel, and Word) essential.
  • Experience of transport management software essential and full training to be given when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct full debrief of all returning drivers on van deliveries. Collate all invoices and collection notes for return to Derby the next working day.
  • Ensure full adherence to the Optimo Routeing schedule ensuring all drops are completed and any issues are reported to Derby Sales. Provide any training requirements to drivers to ensure 100% adherence to the plan.
  • Control the activities of all transport team members, including recruitment, starters and leavers, disciplinary controls where appropriate, controlling holiday booking forms, ensuring absence/return to work forms are prepared and completed, preparation of working rotas plus pay and bonus issues.
  • To monitor clocking report and to insure all Transport staff clock in and out daily.
  • Undertake monthly audits of Enfield based vehicles and complete all associated daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork requirements as per existing and/or future amended procedures. Respond accordingly to any defect reported.
  • Collate and monitor working hours, provide statistical data of working hours of drivers to ensure compliance with the Road Transport Directive and other legislation etc.
  • Compile, agree and monitor practical and measurable KPIs for the site’s Transport operation.
  • Conduct PDP process on all team members.
  • Actively engage with the factory floor to facilitate communications.
  • Attending and chair safety meetings as required.
