Description:
Managing a team of drivers to meet delivery and collection targets with our charity shop partners whilst ensuring compliance with road safety legislation.
A professional logistics lead or supply chain manager, you’ll be responsible for transport delivery logistics, yard and bay management, and client and contract relationships. You’ll supervise the day to day activities of drivers, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and KPI’s are achieved. You’ll also contribute towards the reduction of CO2 emissions and promote environmental thinking.
With a strong, current knowledge of logistics safety standards, regulations, laws, and policies, you will:
- Create and communicate route plans to colleagues and sub-contract drivers
- Arrange and manage vehicle repairs, recoveries, services etc.
- Be responsible for vehicle checks, reporting issues to the Fleet and Transport Manager and vehicle lease company.
- Ensure vehicles are attended to on site, including logging vehicles on the grid and ensuring they are tipped and able to leave on time and with accurate paperwork.
- Log and palletize in-bound totes (boxes) for distribution to hubs.
- Ensure weights from assigned areas and drivers are recorded accurately.
Customer focus is critical and you will use your strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships, ensure timely payments and resolve collection queries using the MaxOptra and HubSpot systems. You will visit supplier and hub sites as required. You will also supervise and work closely with the Logistics Co-ordinator to ensure completion of records, reports and paperwork.
Experience in a comparable role, using logistics software, is essential and to succeed in this role you will also need:
- Ability to use initiative and work autonomously
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience of managing vehicle tracking and driver performance
- Ability to manage multiple pieces of work whilst prioritising the demands of a diverse range of stakeholders and working to tight and competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact at all levels within the Company
Please note: this role is predominantly based in Coventry but will be required to support our warehouse in Goring-by-Sea and regional transport hub sites. There may occasionally be a need to travel to other sites
