How you make a difference:
The Transportation Coordinator will utilize specially trained staff to provide secure transportation of residents/detainees to off-site locations such as medical/psychological consults, specialized treatment, specialized evaluations, court appearances or any destination as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transports patients to various off-site destinations and actively monitors their well-being.
  • Provides verbal guidance and support to patients during off-site activities, including medical visits and court trips.
  • Observes and intervenes with de-escalation techniques to address disruptive or violent behaviors.
  • Monitors and ensures a safe environment for patients by inspecting equipment, systems, and structures.
  • Operates transport vehicles in compliance with state and local traffic regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Prior work experience with transporting patients in a hospital or secure mental health setting preferred, with a focus on patient safety.
  • Must be willing to participate in extensive, ongoing training regarding serious mental illness, de-escalation and intervention techniques, core strategies, patient safety, and safe transportation techniques.
  • High degree of specialty being sole responsibility for patient throughout the transportation process.
  • Strongly prefer academy trained.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Drivers License with a verifiable favorable driving record
