Description:

CBCL is looking to add an Intermediate to Senior Transportation Design Engineer to our organization in one of our Atlantic Canadian branches, or in our Ottawa Office.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership on highways and roads projects within CBCL and take a leadership role in the ongoing growth of the Transportation Planning & Engineering Group. You will work closely with other Transportation Engineers and Planners as well as Project Managers and other professionals within CBCL on projects located in Ontario, Atlantic Canada and Internationally. This position will require you to work on large and small multidisciplinary teams and to work closely with clients both from a technical perspective and client management perspective.
The transportation team takes on a variety of projects with typical projects being transportation master plans, traffic impact assessments, public transportation feasibility studies, highway planning and design, and active transportation planning and design. This is an ideal position for a technical leader interested in taking a leading role in the design of roads and highways as well as performing project management duties.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS:

  • A degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering; an advanced degree would be considered an asset;
  • 5+ years experience designing roads and highways;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Experience preparing technical reports, plans, and specifications;
  • Experience with TAC and other provincial/federal regulations and guidelines;
  • Experience working with Autodesk Civil3D and/or Bentley MicroStation design software;
  • Recognized as a leader amongst peers;
  • Registered or the ability to become registered as a Professional Engineer within Canada;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, with additional capability in French considered as asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Take a leading designer role within the Transportation Planning & Engineer Group;
  • Conduct the schematic and detail design of highway and road infrastructure including complex urban interchanges and roundabouts.
  • Work with project team to develop project design objectives;
  • Work with management and senior engineering in the preparation of proposals and client development;
  • Provide preliminary, pre-design and detailed engineering design services;
  • Proactively manage projects to monitor costs, maintain progress and evaluate alternative solutions;
  • Short travel trips as part of project requirements.
