Job Summary
Sam Schwartz is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer in our New York, NY office to join an interdisciplinary team of consultants (planning, urban design, transportation engineering) working on transportation infrastructure projects currently focused on transportation studies, roadway, and complete streets design. The successful candidate will serve as a contributor on project tasks, including data reduction, technical analyses, design drawings, reports, and presentations.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

The selected individual will perform various traffic engineering and transportation planning tasks including:

  • Conduct site visits and field observations
  • Perform multi-modal transportation analyses
  • Use innovative data analytics tools and traffic analysis software
  • Develop and evaluate solutions on increasingly complex projects
  • Prepare high-quality graphics, data visualizations, and reports
  • Lead tasks from initiation to client-ready product
  • Attend internal and external project meetings

Qualifications and Requirements

The candidate must be organized, able to work both collaboratively and independently, manage priorities, think creatively, and meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering
  • 2 to 5 years of experience (non-academic) in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning, preferably in the New York metro area
  • Experience with performing analyses consistent with the CEQR Technical Manual
  • Proficiency in traffic analysis software including HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, and/or Aimsun
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and Adobe Illustrator
  • EIT certification preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the US

Additional Information
Sam Schwartz, a TYLin Company, is committed to Pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range for this position $75,000 - $112,600 annually.
