Job Description
Arcadis is seeking a Travel Demand Modeller with 2+ years experience to join our multi-modal transportation planning team. The focus of our team is providing leading-edge models to forecast the future of transportation for municipalities and provincial agencies.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills, be eager to learn and indicate an interest to work in a fast paced consulting environment. You will play an important role in the development and application of travel demand models for strategic planning studies. You will be involved in all stages of the model development process, including data collection (household and intercept travel surveys), model architecture, model estimation, and model calibration. You will also contribute to business cases, alternative analyses, environmental assessments, and transportation master plans through the application of travel demand models and the interpretation and synthesis of their outputs.

As a Travel Demand Modeller in our growing Mobility Advisory team, typical projects and tasks will include:

  • Travel demand model design, estimation, and application;
  • Travel forecasting;
  • Data collection/survey design
  • Data analysis and interpretation;
  • Data synthesis and visualization
  • Report and proposal writing

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high quality on all technical deliverables.
  • Using professional judgement to identify and resolve technical problems.
  • Contributing to client and project success by focusing on improving quality of life and putting sustainability at the core of all you do.
  • Applying technical analysis, report writing, and other skills to deliver projects on-time and on-budget.
  • Regular coordination with project managers and team members to align project goals, project progress, and deliverables.
  • Attending internal and external multidisciplinary project team meetings, site visits, and other meetings, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years’ professional experience in transportation model estimation and application;
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, geography, economics, planning, or related field;
  • Experience with at least one travel demand modelling software package (Emme, Visum, TransCAD, Aimsun, CUBE);
  • Experience with at least one statistical/econometric software packages (Biogeme, SPSS, ALogit);
  • Experience in data analysis, databases, and scripting (MS Access, R, SQL, Python, VBA);
  • Experience in GIS is an asset
  • Able to manage effort on multiple simultaneous projects in an environment with firm deadlines.
  • Demonstrated collaborative attitude in working with members of our diverse team.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team, while maintaining quality work within a fast-paced environment.
