Our Transportation Department is looking for a temporary full-time Transportation Planning Technologist to join the team for a three (3) year opportunity. You will provide technical planning work on matters relating to parking and transportation demand management (TDM), including researching, coordinating, reviewing, developing and recommending parking policy and parking management plans. This position will also be responsible for:

  • Conducting research and analysis of issues and policies pertaining to vehicle parking, accessible parking, curbside management, and TDM for new developments.
  • Implementing changes and updates to off-street and on-street parking policies.
  • Overseeing the collection and record keeping of parking data for analysis and reporting.
  • Preparing technical materials related to current capacity and utilization of existing on-street parking supply.
  • Assisting with the development of major reports, technical documents, and presentations to Council.
  • Attending and delivering various internal and external meetings including workshops, open houses, public engagement events, information meetings, and Council meetings.
  • Developing the parameters for consultants’ transportation studies including assisting in selecting consultants, setting terms of reference, and reviewing work for completeness.
  • Managing contracts and relationships with third party consultants.
  • Explaining and interpreting applicable municipal policies, procedures, requirements, and programs to the general public, government officials, developers and other internal and external contacts.
  • Providing cross-departmental support for updates to transportation and parking policies within strategic planning documents; and,
  • Performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

You will have a diploma or degree in an appropriate discipline such as civil engineering or urban planning from a recognized institute of technology plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid B.C. Driver’s Licence is also required.
