Description:

General Duties To be responsible for ensuring that each patients status is updated and checked regularly to ensure thattreatment is received at an appropriate time, by an appropriate surgeon in an appropriate place. To organise the immediate booking of the patient on to the list decided upon by the consultant, ensuring thatall relevant information is available and that iClip is updated accordingly. Patients marked urgent or soon are discussed with the consultant and given an appropriate dateimmediately which is then communicated to the patient by letter. To contact the patients to be cancelled as soon as possible and to deal with them in a sympathetic andsensitive manner, explaining the situation and the possible alternatives.
To update iClip and local spreadsheet accordingly. To cross cover and take on tasks as delegated by the Assistant Service Manager and Service Manager.Waiting List Management To take responsibility for reviewing and validating the waiting lists on a regular basis and to ensure thatappropriate follow-up action is taken. If the patient cannot be contacted, they will be sent a contact letter (PB2). Inform your consultant if surgery no longer required.
To ensure that routine patients are added to the appropriate waitlist. Bring any long waiters/urgent to the attention of the Consultants and the Manager to prevent waiting timebreaches. To report validation position to your ASM on weekly basis. Remove duplicate entries.
Removing patients who no longer need/want surgery or who are incorrectly listed Check historic (Past TCI) Validate long waiters Validate priority status with clinicians Follow Access Policy guide.Communication with patient When routine patients are allocated a date, they will be contacted and offered a reasonable offer as suggestin the Access Policy document. Confirm with the patient that the offered date is convenient and if not, negotiating a new date taking intoconsideration the waiting times and booked theatre lists. To answer politely and promptly to telephone enquiries from all patients and professionals, and to offer theappropriate support to any caller as required.Managing People To train junior staff, ensuring that they receive appropriate training and can provide the required level ofservice. To be responsible for the training of new admissions staff to ensure standards are uniformly maintainedacross specialties To act as a point of reference for admissions staff across specialties to answer any queries that ariseregarding the admissions process.Service Developments and Improvements To support the Trust Service Development Projects in the implementation of pilot programmes or newsystems for inpatient admissions, such as partial booking, pre-assessment appointments.
