QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field
  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Neuroscience or a related area preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience with software development in a related academic research environment
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, automation with shell scripting, scientific programming languages (such as Python), and Unix/Linux systems
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working in neuroscience, neuroimaging and/or computational neuroscience research environments would be an asset
  • Experience with Python for scientific software development
  • Experience with software version control systems (e.g. Git, Github)
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with workflow management systems (e.g. Snakemake)
  • Experience using containerization
  • Experience working with large scale datasets
  • Experience working with open-source repositories and open-access datasets

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In depth knowledge of networking and web-based tools
  • Ability to clearly document system procedures related to software and software installations
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports as required
  • Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems

Responsibilities:

The Imaging Software Developer will work closely with the Imaging Platform Lead (Ali Khan, TRIDENT Co-PI) and other TRIDENT lead investigators on comprehensive management, planning, and execution of TRIDENT imaging-related projects. The role will lead the development of workflows, data pipelines, and standardization of procedures and data management systems, enabling code sharing across species, modalities, teams, and institutions. The role liaises with staff and trainees at TRIDENT sites to define, develop, and document requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications for projects, develops and deploys software for image standardization, processing, and analysis, and provides technical support and presentations to end-users as required.
