Trust Doctor in Paediatrics F3/ST1/2 Equivalent –fixed term

The Paediatric Department has 29 acute medical and surgical in-patient beds including 6 teenage beds and a 5-bed paediatric high dependency unit. There is a separate assessment area. (PAU) There are several specialised out-patient clinics attended by tertiary-specialists. There is an 18 cot, purpose built neonatal unit with 5 intensive care/high dependency cots.
Full intensive care is offered to inborn babies greater than 27/40 weeks gestation; neonatal surgery being transferred to the regional unit in Oxford FY2/ST1-3 Trainees are on a full shift (Band 1A) and are organised in separate teams for General Paediatrics and for Neonates. The general ward & neonatal unit are separated by a single door allowing good registrar support across both sides of the department. Within our department we have a mixture of FY2, ST1-3 in paediatrics and ST1-ST2 GP trainees all participating to a rolling junior doctor rota.
