Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Princess Alexandra Hospital, we are looking for a Trust Middle Grade doctor (ST3-ST6) to complement our existing middle grade rota including contribution to the on-call rota. The candidate’s will provide care to a variety of different clinical areas Paediatric Emergency Department, Short Stay Unit, Dolphin Paediatric ward, Neonatal Unit, Postnatal ward as well as the Outpatients department. They will have access to consultant support at all times.
The main responsibilities of the post will include the day to day management of sick children, infants and neonates helped by the nursing staff and senior house officer under the direct supervision of the Consultant Paediatricians.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is a District General Hospital providing acute services to the population of West Essex and East Hertfordshire from a 489 bedded site in Harlow, Essex (PAH) and two Community hospitals In-patient, St Margaret Hospital (SMH), Epping and the Herts and Essex Hospital (HEH) in Bishops Stortford.
The candidate will be expected to join the other doctors in covering both Dolphin ward/ ED and NICU/ Postnatal wards. This will involve working a mixture of normal days, Long days, twilights, weekends and nights on a 10-week rolling rota. They will be responsible to timely patient review and discharges with appropriate senior support.
The candidate will undertake appropriate administrative duties associated with the care of paediatric patients which will include supervision of foundation doctors/ ST1-3’s and GPVTS. The role will include ensuring accurate medical record keeping, timely completion of discharge summaries.
This role will involve full participation in the on call rota involving weekends and nights.
