Description:

The post is to: Assist in the provision of an effective paediatric emergency medicine service at the University Hospital of North Tees. Provide emergency treatment to patients attending the paediatric emergency department and liaise with specialties. Assist and guide junior doctors in emergency medicine and paediatrics working within CYPED. To liaise with the shop floor/on-call consultant for clinical and administrative advice as appropriate.
Responsible for undertaking the administrative duties associated with the care of patients. Work co-operatively with colleagues and to respect their contribution to patient care. Ensure accurate recording of patient care episodes and outcomes as well as effective communication with nursing and professional staff in relation to patient care. Undertake mandatory training as directed.
Any other duties which may be required from time to time. The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and well being and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with the post. Observe the rules, policies, procedures and standards of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations. A responsibility to decline to undertake duties for which they have not been trained, or for which they believe they will be able to undertake safely.
Observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff. The post holder must at all times carry out their duties with due regard to the Trusts Equal Opportunities Policy. Contribute to the achievement of the Trusts Strategic Objectives. The post holder is required to comply with the Trust policy on the implementation of the Working Time Regulations (1998 and 2009 amendment) including declaration of hours worked and breaks taken by undertaking monitoring exercises when required.
