Due to rapid and ongoing expansion we are seeking expressions of interest from dynamic and experienced Marine Engineers to join our growing team.
Job Description
Smit Lamnalco is seeking expressions of interest from qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Engineers for our East Coast Towage operations. We are looking for pro-active and diligent crew to join our growing fleet on a full time ongoing basis.
You will be part of a small team. As a crew of three you will report to the Contract Manager and Master onboard the vessel.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the safe operation of the vessels and engines, generators and associated machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure that all machinery (deck and engine) is maintained to operational standards at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs as and when required, and to take responsibility for ensuring that the Planned Maintenance System is carried out onboard vessels.
  • Liaise and coordinate with technical superintendent all engineering activities resulting from vessel surveys defects, inspection outcomes and audit deficiencies.
  • Stay up to date on company training and be responsible for training new employees.

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity applicants will hold:

  • Minimum AMSA Class 1, Class 2 or Class 3 Certificate of Competency. In the case of a Class 3, the holder most also possess a relevant trade qualification (fitter & turner, electrical fitter, diesel fitter) or other equivalent engineering trade.
  • The successful applicant(s) must hold a current AMSA Certificate of Competency
  • Valid AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness
  • Valid MSIC or eligible to apply
  • Strong problem solving, analysis and assessment skills
  • Experience in the use of onboard planned maintenance systems

These are full time ongoing positions.
