The Jean Golding Institute (JGI) (www.bristol.ac.uk/golding) is a University Research Institute (URI) supporting interdisciplinary research in data science and AI. We support researchers with funding for seed corn projects, networking opportunities as well as data science support. The JGI also manages the relationship with The Alan Turing Institute, the UK Institute for data science and AI (www.turing.ac.uk), that brings together experts from academia, industry, and government to tackle complex societal problems.
The Liaison Manager is an exciting role and vital one in driving the development of the partnership, the post holder will be the primarily link between the University and the Turing as well as the wider Turing University Network (TUN) of 64 partner universities. The post holder will develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders across sectors and organisations and seek to develop new collaborative initiatives that benefit the University and aim to create new programmes of research. The role holder will be expected to attend meetings at Turing HQ based in the British Library periodically.
The role is currently funded until July 2025, however, the partnership will be renewed then and it is highly likely that the role will continue.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

This is an exciting time as the Turing is developing its new strategy and your role will be key to find synergies across organisations, the post holder will work on:

  • Designing and delivering a variety of project support mechanisms (regular meetings, project reviews, workshops, interest groups, high profile events and presentations, etc)
  • Disseminating information internally and across the Turing about opportunities and shared areas of interest and activity.

Specifically, you will be the main contact for Turing Fellows and organisers of Turing Interest Groups.
  • Participate in events hosted by The Alan Turing Institute both online and in person (in London HQ, based at the British Library) as well other events organised by the TUN across the UK.
