Job description: Tutor / Senior Tutor in Animal Science
Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of the Bachelor of
Animal Science degree. Providing assistance to Animal Science staff in the
preparation and running of the practical and laboratory sessions and
tutoring within the Bachelor of Animal Science degree. Further, providing
support in the delivery of courses and practicals taught by Animal Science
Staff in related disciplines, including assisting with marking. Design and
develop distance and online teaching material. Co-ordinate visits and
develop physical and online material for animal science related student
engagement activities including; school visits, high school STREAM sites,
experience days, open days, outreach activities, BAnSci orientation
activities.

Accountabilities
Tutoring/Assistance • Undertaking undergraduate tutorials
- Assist Animal Science staff in the preparation and running of the
practical and laboratory sessions
- Support in the delivery and the marking of courses taught by Animal
Science Staff in related disciplines
- From time to time giving a small number of lectures in Animal
Production at the 100 and 200 undergraduate level, under supervision
- Coordinate visits and develop material for animal science related

Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications: Degree in Animal Science, postgraduate qualification in a related Animal
Science field or equivalent relevant undergraduate degree. Formal
training related to education would be of benefit.

Experience: • Demonstrated a basic knowledge of Animal Science disciplines.
- Able to undertake responsibility for co-developing and co-delivering
the different courses taught by Animal Science Staff
- Experience in Animal handling
- Teaching experience
- Experience in designing and developing online Animal based
educational material
- Experience with working with high school students
