The Opening Week 2024 (01.-11. October 2024) is the starting point of the academic life for the first-semester students at Leuphana University. The first-semester students will complete projects, visit panel discussions and learn more about the campus and the academic community at Leuphana. The topic of this year’s Opening Week is “Intelligence”.
For an academically and personally successful start, the new students need thematic instructions and a guiding figure to help them in a new environment and answer questions of all kinds. We are looking for tutors from all disciplines for this new and exciting experience. The main requirements are thematic interest as well as the motivation and confidence to enable productive project work in English. Tutors are the most important link between the organizational team and the new students. Thus, tutors are able to shape the first experiences of our first-semester students on campus. We provide you with a conceptual framework and guidelines. You provide motivation, commitment and an interest in academic work.

Your tasks:

• You will be the reference person for a group of about 15 new students and guide them through the Opening Week
• You will facilitate academic / scientific work and help with questions of all kind

We expect:

• Participation in a tutoring training session on September 26th
• Commitment, reliability and the willingness to assist new students and to address their questions and concerns
• Guiding and supervising a group from October 1st to 11th
• Good language skills in German and English

We offer:

• A compensation of 400,00 € (honorary allowance)
• A Leuphana hoodie
• A certificate over your contribution as a tutor during the Opening Week
• Gaining experience in leading groups

• In this application form, we ask you to answer five questions. Each question should be answered in 100 words (+/- 20) per question. At least three questions must be answered in English.

• Who would you invite to this year’s Opening Week and which aspect of Intelligence should this talk be about?
• The deadline for applications is June 16th at 23:59. Please expect a message from us before June 21st.
• We want to meet applicants on July 1st and 2nd. The meeting will take place on campus.
