Description:

Duties/Pligte

  • Managing and scheduling of television and recording studios;
  • Overseeing the Department of Drama’s computer user area and editing suite;
  • Maintaining and managing the audio and audio-visual equipment for the studios;
  • Providing technical support to staff and students regarding teaching and research activities, productions, projects, and assessments;
  • Sound and video recording of departmental activities, including productions, projects, and assessments;
  • File management and archiving of media;
  • Setting up and mixing streaming events;
  • Performing scheduled duty as a technician during productions and rentals at the Adam Small Theatre Complex, also after hours;
  • Adhering to and enforcing all relevant Health and Safety rules and regulations;
  • Having regular meetings with the departmental chair, venue manager, and head theatre technician;
  • Interacting with students, staff, and the public.

  • Toesighouding oor die Drama Departement se rekenaargebruikersarea en redigering-suite;

  • Liassering en argivering van media;
  • Opstel en meng van strominggeleenthede;
  • Doen geskeduleerde diens as tegnikus tydens produksies en verhurings in die Adam Small Teaterkompleks, ook na-ure;
  • Nakoming en handhawing van alle toepaslike Gesondheids- en Veiligheidsreëls en regulasies;
  • Vergader gereeld met die departementele voorsitter, ruimtebestuurder en hoof teatertegnikus;
  • Interaksie met studente, personeel en die publiek.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • A relevant three-year post-school qualification;
  • At least five years’ work experience in a relevant field;
  • Experience in Adobe Suite, Final Cut or Logic Pro X;
  • Experience with DSLR and HD video cameras;
  • Experience in audio recording and editing;
  • Experience in mixing and patching on analog and digital audio consoles;
  • Experience in the recording, editing, grading, and final mixing of video products
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of the streaming of performances/events;
  • Computer competency in Microsoft 365 applications;
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Flexibility to work according to the Adam Small Theatre Complex and Department of Drama’s operational hours.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

’n Toepaslike drie-jarige naskoolse kwalifikasie;

  • Minstens vyf jaar se werkservaring in ’n toepaslike veld;
  • Ervaring in Adobe Suite, Final Cut of Logic Pro X;
  • Ervaring met DSLR- en HD-videokameras;
  • Ervaring van klankopname en -redigering;
  • Ervaring van opstel en meng op analoog en digitale klankkonsoles;
  • Ervaring van die opname, redigering, gradering en finale meng van videoprodukte;
  • Ervaring van en/of kennis van die stroming van produksies/geleenthede;
  • Rekenaarvaardigheid in Microsoft 365-toepassings;
  • Bewese vermoë om beide onafhanklik en as deel van ’n span te werk;
  • Sterk interpersoonlike vaardighede;
  • Die vermoë om onder druk in ’n sperdatum-gedrewe omgewing te werk;
  • Buigsaamheid om volgens die Adam Small Teaterkompleks en Departement Drama se operasionele ure te werk.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Undergraduate degree in film production and/or technical aspects of theatre.
  • Experience in installation, programming, and operation of AV projection equipment.
  • Experience in sound operating systems, specifically Qlab.
  • Experience as project/production manager.
