Description:

We are seeking candidates for two post-doctoral positions within the field of materials crystallography. The first position is for two years and the second position is for one year. In case further external funding is secured within the academic area the candidates are assessed obviously qualified for, an extension is possible for up to a total maximum of four years of employment as a postdoc.
The first postdoc position (two years) is on single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of advanced materials. The project involves electron density analysis using the multipole formalism, very low temperature (~2 K) crystallography and serial femtosecond X-ray crystallography using X-ray Free Electron Laser sources. Furthermore, the candidate must have experience in materials synthesis and crystal growth.
The second position (one year) is on powder X-ray diffraction and X-ray total scattering studies of thermoelectric materials and ionic conductors. The project involves operando X-ray scattering studies of materials under operating conditions using the Aarhus Thermoelectric Operando Setup (ATOS). Furthermore, the candidate must have broad experience in materials synthesis and transport property characterization.
The starting date is expected to be October 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The place of work is Department of Chemistry, Langelandsgade 140, 8000 Aarhus C.
The successful candidates will be involved in materials research in collaboration with other members of the Iversen group. The candidates must have a PhD in chemistry, crystallography, physics, materials science or similar. The Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University (www.chem.au.dk) is one of the leading European chemistry departments with a broad research program. It has a permanent staff of ~35 full and associate professors, a support-staff of ~30 people, ~150 PhD-students and postdocs and around 400 students.
The Iversen group is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) (www.inano.au.dk) as well as the Aarhus Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT) (www.imat.au.dk). iMAT integrates a diverse range of basic and applied materials research areas across departments and centers and thereby strongly contribute to solving some of the Grand Challenges of modern society.
For further information, please contact Professor, dr. scient. et techn. Bo Brummerstedt Iversen (bo@chem.au.dk).
