We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and creative User Interface Designer to join our UI Team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. You’ll work in our friendly and collaborative team to create simple yet beautiful design experiences for our Currys and Carphone Warehouse customers.

KEY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrable experience of creating user-focused UI designs with a portfolio showing your design process, and covering all responsive device sizes
• Exceptional design skills, covering layout, colour, and typography
• Experience using brand guidelines and UI design systems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to tackle challenging design problems
• Knowledge of user testing and design prototyping
• Proficiency in a range of design tools, including Figma, Zeplin, & Photoshop
• Understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML and CSS)
• Experience working in an e-commerce environment
• Working knowledge of W3C Accessibility standards

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Experience working with offshore development teams
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum development methodologies, working in sprints with backlogs and feature sets
• Experience using Confluence and Jira

• Transform wireframes and design briefs into simple, beautiful UI that our customers will love
• Use and contribute to our UI design system, ensuring output is consistent and aligned to overall Currys brand look and feel
• Understand best practices and standards in design methodologies and processes, including accessibility
• Ensure designs are pixel-perfect and ready for hand-off to our development teams
• QA & UAT front-end code to ensure it matches your designs
• Understand how to balance customer needs with the KPIs of the business in a fast-paced retail environment
• Present and justify design decisions to all levels of the business, taking feedback on board to iterate and improve design output
• Work alongside UX Architects in understanding user research and evaluating user feedback to inform design decisions, approaching problems holistically to ensure designs work as part of a unified product.
