Description:

UCLH, supported by Capital Midwife, are seeking to recruit experienced and motivated internationally educated midwives to join the UCLH Maternity workforce to deliver high standards of care to our patients , and take your career forward within an outstanding Trust. Candidates must be residents in the UK at time of placing their application.
The successful candidate will be provided with an 18-month fixed term contract, initially appointed as a band 4 pre-registration midwife, whilst preparing to take the NMC Test of Competency (OSCE). Upon successfully passing the NMC OSCE and joining the NMC register, you will progress to a band 5 registered midwife position. You will receive full financial funding to undertake and take the OSCE course and exam. Should the required competencies be met within this 18-month period, you can be supported to apply for a permanent band 6 position.

Upon successful entry onto the UK NMC Register, the post holder will undertake a 12-month rotational preceptorship programme covering all clinical areas of the Maternity Service. This includes facilitating care to women during the antenatal, intrapartum and period in different maternity settings. This includes personally facilitating births and managing common obstetric emergencies alongside the multidisciplinary team.

  • To actively participate in all activities, training and learning opportunities to achieve UK NMC Registration in a timely manner
  • To actively participate in and complete the UCLH Preceptorship programme which aligns to CapitalMidwife programme and the National Preceptorship Framework.
  • To be able to support the maternity service needs in a full time capacity; including days and nights, Monday-Sunday including bank holidays as required
  • To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines as a midwife with facilitation for a defined group of women and their babies with minimal supervision in all Maternity Care settings.

  • To develop leadership skills and experience in the management of the ward/department.
  • To promote and participate in the implementation of the UCLH Nursing Midwifery strategy:
  • Reviewing midwifery practice and implementing appropriate changes based on research/best practice.
  • Developing and implementing Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives.
  • To participate in training programmes as appropriate.
  • To promote and maintain effective communication.
  • Create a supportive blame-free environment for staff and women
  • To teach, lead and manage qualified and other staff, including students and support staff
