Description:

Control & Systems Engineer
Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd – Burton on Trent
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Control & Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in Burton.
The successful applicant will work 40 hours per week, from 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday.
Salary for this role will be £44,000 - 54,000 per annum, depending upon qualification, skills, background and experience.
Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of highly technologically focussed projects and improvement programs consistent with a complex, global, technical leader in the Prestige and Ultra High Performance Tyre industry.
This role requires a high degree of technical know-how and a capability to work on a broad range of software and control systems. The Control & Systems Engineer will become the technical specialist on many of these systems so a high degree of autonomy and flexibility is required in terms of problem solving and continual search for improvements to technical efficiency and effectiveness.
Candidates will be required to lead projects, taking them from concept to specification to detail design and full realisation within agreed timings and budgets. They will be a member of the broader engineering team and be required to collaborate in projects led by other colleagues or even other functions in both a practical ‘hands-on’ role or as a consultant. An important element of the role is the transfer of know-how to others by means of coaching, formal training packages or shadowing. Good interpersonal skills will therefore be required.
The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable in the factory environment or the office, working directly on machines to develop new investments and upgrades, creating designs, writing software or even updating documents etc. at a desk. The Control & Systems Engineer will deal confidently and professionally with external suppliers who will provide the goods or services specified or designed by them or their colleagues.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

Being acutely aware of the need for accuracy and resilience in a fast paced and highly pressurised environment
Understanding how the role of Control & Systems Engineer compliments and works with other factory functions such as production, Quality, R&D, HSE and IT and to operate at all times in a fully co-operative and cohesive manner
Working as an effective team member in relation to the Engineering team and as required with other functions
Taking initiative and solving problems through standard analysis tools and systems and regular liaison and discussion with colleagues, line managers and external suppliers
Identifying and undertaking training and development activities as required to enable you to fulfil the role, keep your knowledge and skills up to date and to fulfil your own potential
Assisting in the guidance, development and integration of colleagues, new employees, apprentices, work placement students etc. in respect of the Engineering role
Being an excellent ambassador for Pirelli UK both at home and abroad, at all times, in respect of language, dress and general professional behaviour
