Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

This is an exciting new opportunity for a UK Software Engineering Manager to manage, lead, develop and optimise Engineering Software Systems across the Bakkavor Group and across our Bakkavor UK sites to optimise the UK estate.
You will own and deliver the Bakkavor engineering software strategy by ensuring software management strategies are identified and embedded across the estate. Your role will require you to support UK sites to deliver, maintain and manage software systems.
You will be required to use advanced production and processing techniques and project management skills to deliver new projects on time, to budget and at the required quality.
You will compile and provide a full set of documentation for the scope of works and prepare CEPs to support capital developments across the estate.
Working with multifunctional teams, you will lead technical engineering performance reviews and continuous improvement activities.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES;

  • To lead the auditing of the software systems installed across the Bakkavor estate.
  • To lead and develop a site support and rapid response strategy.
  • To lead the development of software updates and the creation of a software library.
  • Lead the creation of software strategies to meet organisational goals.
  • Take an active role in the Engineering Strategy Pillar.
  • Develop the estate strategy to identify intervention and mitigation options for the failure of assets. For example, obsolescence replacement programmes, standardisation, spare part management, change in operation.
  • Support an effective impact and contingency plan for software systems and/or service failures. Lead consultation with subject matter experts.
  • Develop and present reports, for example, performance reports, asset management plans, reports to sector and certifying bodies.
  • Support the management and selection of external suppliers, the setting of objectives for suppliers and performance measurement of suppliers within the context of the organisation’s asset management approach.
  • Review and challenge the sign-off of any new engineering systems requirements from capital projects.
