POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Processing U/W referrals, making Underwriting decisions in line with authority limits, applicable policies and guidelines and current legislation (i.e., Underwriting Policy, Underwriting Guidelines, and other sources.
  • Providing reporting and monitoring including analysis of trends, referrals, discounting, sales, policies and claims data
  • Analysis of current underwriting process and rules, identifying the gaps and proposing recommendations and improvements.
  • Support with the implementation and maintenance of business rules supporting Underwriting Guidelines and Policy across IT systems and completing testing of system changes solutions, improvements and audits of pricing systems.
  • Assisting with updating and maintaining Underwriting Guidelines, Product Disclosure Statements, Certificates of Insurance, renewal letters, and other relevant documents and templatesMonitoring competitors’ activities and market trends and consider impact of market changes onto underwriting practice.

WHAT EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Professional background in a similar role. Experience within Claims and Domestic Property Insurance or General Insurance is highly advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualification in mathematics, IT, business, economics, actuarial science, or related discipline.
  • Experience in data analysis and prior knowledge of within programming or DB scripting (e.g. GCP, PowerBI, SAS, SQL).
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes, compliance and legislation covering insurance, with a strong understanding of industry trends and best practices would be advantageous.Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Home Underwriting Analyst position is to support the Home Underwriting team with BAU activities as well as reporting, monitoring, and data analysing data to identify trends and provide recommendations. This position combines traditional underwriting tasks with analytics to contribute support to continuous improvements and implement automation processes across the Home Underwriting Team.
