Description:

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in insurance industry preferred
  • Proven experience in managing large datasets.
  • Ability to handle data through relevant tools and ability to think logically and to work in a fast-paced team.
  • Experience working with Excel at an advanced level.
  • Degree qualified preferably in numerical or science subjects or relevant industry experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is advantageous, such as SAS, Dataiku as well as Power BI exposure.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the underwriting performance with the aim of protecting the profitability of the portfolio. This includes identifying performance enhancements and MI Improvements and work actively on the implementation of remedial plans where required.
  • Enhance data usage and MI availability to support the decision-making process and drive sustainable portfolios’ growth.
  • Co-ordinate and build collaborative relationships within the business unit to enable the business to effectively manage the performance of the clients across the region. Specifically liaising with Actuarial, underwriting and claims.
  • Proactively identify and implement initiatives that positively impact the business unit from a growth and profitability perspective.
  • Provide comprehensive analytical support to help improve the business’ understanding of performance, including the use of SAS, Dataiku and Power BI. Use initiative to recommend solutions to complex problems and/or new ways of undertaking tasks.
  • Help to develop predictive account models, recommend improvements, and provide support to team in their creation.
  • Create plans and forecasts, closely working with finance team to ensure premium is monitored and production variances understood.
  • Assume responsibility for data integrity and thorough file documentation.
