What you’ll be doing:
Joining our Centre of Expertise you’ll join a small team of experts who work holistically across the whole of our Pricing & Underwriting Chapter, supporting and enabling our teams to deliver and driving positive chapter outcomes through contribution to activities such as; delivering change at pace and in line with regulation, supporting on key strategic projects and providing thought leadership to help shape the future of the function.
As part of our agile model you will be integral to the wider success of the COE and function, parachuting into squads to provide specialist expertise, unblock issues and enable delivery.
You’ll be heavily relied upon for your underwriting expertise. This might be in traditional elements of underwriting such as handling referrals, approvals and policy wording construction but also in areas around new products, distribution opportunities or in new and emerging risks.

Additionally you’ll also be involved in…

  • Utilising your technical and analytical underwriting skill and understanding of pricing as you’ll often work in partnership with your pricing colleagues.
  • Leading the development and management of the P&U Governance and Control framework and you’ll have specific oversight of a new and exciting area of our Motor business.
  • You’ll be a role model for the Chapter, supporting the development of our people, both now and in the longer term – supporting with building technical knowledge and skills in a number of ways e.g coaching, mentoring, setting minimum standards or best practise.
  • Shape thinking on future risks & opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrable experience in an Underwriting role, ideally within Personal Lines with technical and analytical skills

  • A commercial mentality with the ability to identify risks and opportunities across squads
  • Strong external Underwriting network to be able to bring your external marketplace, customer and competitor knowledge to the team
  • Ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders and experience of developing individuals
  • Underwriting portfolio experience, at aggregator leve
