About the role:
First Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Tuesday – Saturday) Licensed Union Plumber in Innovative Bio-Medical Research Facility with Great Benefits. $46.39/hr.
Job Description:
Core responsibilities include being able to work collaboratively with management, plumbing lead and various trades throughout the campus to solve problems efficiently and effectively, and address emergencies as they arise, installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems for heating and cooling, all scientific gas piping repairs, high-pressure transport, oil and chemicals, natural gas, and more. Be the first point-of-contact for all scientific gases across campus.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with scientific groups and end users on daily and long-term projects
  • Utilize work order system to complete designated tasks on time and communicate status to internal team and end users
  • Inspect and utilize PPE and follow safety guidelines when using pneumatic and hydraulic tools
  • Maintain and repair pH, RODI, vacuum and other lines, as well as grease traps, wastewater, cistern, steam, natural gas and specialty systems
  • Repair malfunctions, breakages, or leaks to support maintenance efforts
  • Troubleshoot and repair boilers and associated components
  • Visually inspect LN, CO2 and bulk gas tank areas and escalate concerns to management, as needed
  • Collaborate with other workers (e.g. plumbers, painters, carpenters, HVAC) and vendors to execute tasks and minimize business interruptions
  • All other tasks, as assigned

What you’ll need:

  • Knowledge of health and safety guidelines when dealing with dangerous equipment or chemicals
  • Proven experience as a licensed plumber with ability to operate pro press, thread pipe, etc.
  • Experience reading blueprints/construction drawings and working with lab equipment and gases
  • Good numerical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in shifts and/or overtime
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work from high surfaces, such as (but not limited to) ladders and other equipment
  • Have experience working in industrial settings and with steam traps and various pipe materials (steel, copper, etc.).

The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable
Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union position is
