CORE CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Daily clinics at the Monash Children’s Hospital
  • Daily ward rounds when on-call
  • Responsibility for the provision of consultant rehabilitation services at Latrobe Regional Hospital

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership for the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine in line with MH-wide vision and strategy. The Head of the Department is responsible to the Medical Director of Monash Children’s Hospital for the overall leadership, strategic and operational performance of the department and its services, as determined by agreed key performance indicators, and the Chief of Medicine for Quality and Patient Safety related activities. This involves ensuring the department consistently provides the highest quality care, education and research whilst maintaining a sound and sustainable financial position, strong staff engagement and support, as well as effective relationships with the community and consumers of care.
As Head of the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation MCH, you will collaborate with the Head of the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation RCH and the State-wide Medical Director and Program Manager on delivering state-wide activities, including research, education and data for reporting to AROC and DOH.

DETAILS OF THE ROLE

  • Hours: Part time (24.5 hours per week) plus on call or 0.70 EFT
  • Employment: Fixed term Part time
  • Period: Five years (renewable)

You will be responsible for below key areas

  • Collaborative partnership with the Director Clinical Operations, and General Manager(s) to provide exceptional and balanced leadership across Monash Health Nephrology services.
  • Ensure the Program quality and safety risks are identified and a plan is in place to mitigate such risks
  • Maintaining research and education activity in Rehabilitation, working with relevant clinicians and researchers at Monash University and national and international collaborators.
  • Develop and oversee a medical workforce development and wellbeing plan.
  • Identify options and take necessary action to improve speciality and vocational training
  • Contribute to and where appropriate lead major clinical and redesign projects such as the design and/or commissioning of new facilities, improvements in patient experience, addressing poor performance against organizational KPIs as it applies to the Program
