Are you seeking a per diem opportunity in a supportive and dynamic environment? MaineGeneral Health is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Unit Secretaries in our Maternity and Pediatrics departments.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of our nursing units.
- Welcome patients and visitors to the unit, providing information, and directing them as necessary.
- Answer, screen, and route telephone calls, including calling codes, paging, and making overhead announcements as requested.
- Enter physicians’ orders and nursing requests into the system, subject to the approval of a licensed nurse, and seeking clarification when necessary.
- Patient Admissions, Transfers, and Discharges: Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and maintaining patient records and charts.
- Administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of the maternity and pediatrics units.
We are seeking candidates who have:
- Effective communication skills are crucial for interacting with patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency with computers and various software applications, including Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Customer Service Orientation: A commitment to providing exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
