TalentWorld is recruiting a US Tax Compliance Analyst in Calgary, Alberta for one of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with US and Canadian tax laws for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Provide strategic tax planning advice to minimize tax liabilities for clients with cross-border operations.
  • Analyze the tax implications of business transactions, investments, and other financial activities in both countries.
  • Prepare and review various tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1065 (US), and T1, T2, T5013 (Canada), as well as related schedules and disclosures required by the IRS and CRA (Canada Revenue Agency).
  • Stay updated on new US and Canadian tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to provide accurate and up-to-date tax advice to clients.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, explain tax concepts and strategies, and address any questions or concerns regarding their US and Canadian tax obligations.
  • Assist clients with IRS and CRA audits or inquiries related to their tax filings in both countries, including responding to information requests and providing documentation.
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals, both within the firm and externally, to provide comprehensive tax services to clients with cross-border tax needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is preferred.
  • Proficiency in any tax software such as Intuit, Proconnect Tax Online, Drake Tax, QuickBooks, Xero, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, CCH, IntelliConnect, BloombergTax, SharePoint, Salesforce, or Zoho CRM.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience using specialized tax analytics software for financial data analysis and tax planning.
  • Strong understanding of US and Canadian tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
